“No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up on the last day.” – Jesus (John 6:44 NASB)
Faith comes to us as the Father draws us to Jesus.
“Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit. And there are varieties of ministries, and the same Lord. There are varieties of effects, but the same God who works all things in all persons. But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, and to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit; to another faith by the same Spirit, and to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit, and to another the effecting of miracles, and to another prophecy, and to another the distinguishing of spirits, to another various kinds of tongues, and to another the interpretation of tongues. But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually just as He wills.” 1 Corinthians 12:4-11 (NASB)
Faith is a Gift of the Holy Spirit.
Do you see? The Father initiates Faith by drawing us to the Son. The Son (Jesus) is the full expression of the covenant love and grace God offers us in Faith. And the Holy Spirit imparts the gift of Faith to us so we may believe.
This demonstrates how all three members of the Godhead are active in our salvation experience.
How Do We Grow In Faith?

“For by it the people of old gained approval. By faith we understand that the world has been created by the word of God so that what is seen has not been made out of things that are visible… And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for the one who comes to God must believe that He exists, and that He proves to be One who rewards those who seek Him.” – Hebrews 11:2-3, 6 (NASB)
Faith is not something we can stir up on our own. We cannot work harder or study more and receive a greater measure of faith. Faith brings certainty and understanding — it becomes an anchor that we can hold fast to when life hits us. But, faith requires us to rest in a place where we don’t have it all figured out.
In Romans 4, Paul writes that Abraham, the man God promised to bless all the nations of the earth through, exercised faith when He called things that were not yet as though they already existed. He also said that faith is what God credited to Abraham as righteousness. Not His works, but instead, His belief. (See Romans 4:1-12)
The only way to have faith is to receive it.
